Meet the Owner

John Robinson

Founder & Owner, Mid Maryland Pet Sitting

Thank you for considering Mid Maryland Pet Sitting for all of your pet care needs! I bring many years of experience to the job and will strive to give your animals as much love as you do.

I’ve been working with animals for my entire life, however I opened Mid Maryland Pet Sitting in 2018. I grew up on a small farm in West Virginia where I took care of cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, bunnies and even raised an orphaned fawn. In addition to decades of on the job experience I am a certified veterinary assistant and trained in animal first aid.

After graduating from college with a degree in music I moved to Maryland and spent 33 years as a public school teacher while doing animal care as a part time work. I’ve made it a priority to give as much time as I can to volunteering with various animal rescue organizations and spent some time as the President of The Animal Welfare League of Frederick. I also enjoy fostering cats in need and finding them forever homes, or as frequently happens adopting them myself. I am especially drawn to senior animals and those with intensive medical needs.

In addition to teaching and animal care I’ve also worked as a barista, book seller, travel consultant, personal trainer, various summer camps, and music director. Of all the jobs I’ve ever held, working with animals is by far the best.

When not caring for other people’s pets, I spend my time with my own furry family of felines: Jake, Paulie, Maggie, Mikey, Rupert, Thavma, Balthazar, Orion, Aurora, and Melchoir.

If I had an abundance of money I would use the funds to open a farm sanctuary to save and protect as many animals as possible during my time here on earth. My relationship with animals can be best summed up as, “Taking care of animals isn’t what I do, it’s who I am!”
