Professional In-Home Pet Care

I care for cats, birds, and small mammals in Hagerstown and the surrounding area. Every visit is personal. Your pet will be cared for by the same person every time, someone they will get to know and recognize.

Pet Sitting

In-home visits so your cat, or other pet stays in their own environment, on their own schedule. Includes feeding, fresh water, playtime, and a visit report after every appointment.

Cat Sitting

I share my home with 10 cats and have fostered dozens more. I understand feline routines and can handle medication, senior care, and the particular social needs cats have when their people are away.

Bird Sitting

Bird Sitting

Birds have specialized care needs that most pet sitters aren’t equipped to handle. My veterinary assistant background means I know what healthy bird behavior looks like and how to respond when something seems off.

Small Mammals Sitting.

Small Mammal Sitting

Rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other small mammals deserve attentive care too. I provide in-home visits that respect their habitat, their feeding schedules, and their need for safe, calm handling.

Testimonials

More than just a sitter – John is part of our family and makes himself available sometimes at a moments notice. He spends time with Tom & Peanut and Poptart as if they were his and even takes time to play with them – he’s amazing! We would be lost without his help and support and feel completely comfortable with him in our home. Give him a call for all your pet sitting needs, he won’t disappoint!

– Karl & Patrick B.L., Frederick, MD

John is the absolute best. My cat is very fussy about who she interacts with and John has found his way into her heart. She also has asthma, requiring an inhaler a couple times a day and John has the experience and familiarity with this to care for her. I am terribly grateful to have found John. He keeps me updated so I always know when hes been there and can travel confidently knowing if there is an issue, he’ll take care of it. I highly recommend him to anyone, especially if you are like me and your pets are your kids. 🙂

Pet Sitting FAQs

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes. Mid-Maryland Pet Sitting carries full professional pet care liability insurance for every visit. You can ask for proof of coverage at any time. I’m happy to share it. Insurance protects your home and your pet, and I consider it non-negotiable.

How much does pet sitting cost in Hagerstown, MD?

Visits are priced at $30 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45 minutes, and $60 for a full hour. There are no holiday surcharges and no extra charge for administering medications. What you see is what you pay.

Can you give my pet medication during visits?

Yes, and there’s no additional charge for it. As a certified veterinary assistant, I’m comfortable administering oral medications, eye drops, ear treatments, and subcutaneous fluids. I have extensive experience with diabetic pets, senior animals, and pets with chronic conditions who need consistent, careful medication management.

What kinds of animals do you care for?

I provide in-home care for cats, birds, and small mammals including rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. My veterinary assistant training means I’m comfortable with species that many pet sitters won’t take on. If you have an animal that’s not on that list, contact me. I’m happy to talk with you to see if I can help.

How is this different from using Rover or Care.com?

With marketplace apps like Rover or Care.com, you’re selecting from a list of strangers and hoping the person who shows up matches their profile. With me, you get the same person every single visit — someone you’ve already met, who knows your pet by name, and who you can call directly if anything comes up. I’m also a certified veterinary assistant with professional liability insurance. There are no platform fees, no middlemen, and no surprises.
